Vendor Questions

1 . Is it important for our Company to register a new profile per Country?

Yes. MasterVendorList.com allows buyers to refine their search by location. It is therefore in the vendor’s best interest to ensure all national offices are represented and are responsible for their own information; ensuring credibility and accuracy of data. If a company does not have a local contact, it will not be allowed to claim a presence in that country.

2 . Is it important for each Company to register a new profile per Department?

Yes. In our experience it can be extremely difficult and frustrating connecting with the correct contact when enquiring about a specific commodity. This is most relevant in large companies with multiple divisions, such as valve divisions, automation divisions, process divisions etc. In placing ownership and responsibility of information to the individual departments; it allows greater control and flexibility to encourage the integrity of the data available to buyers.

3 . Why would I need to use MasterVendorList.com when I already have a Company website?

There are now over 200 Million websites on the internet, making it extremely difficult to find a specific website using traditional internet browsers. Users are inundated with information and options. Research shows almost all internet users will only consider the first and second pages of search results and 40% of people only visit a site once. Directing traffic to a website is the most important element for any successful internet marketing strategy. The vast majority of businesses within the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry have invested large amounts of money in websites; however, they have not been advised the importance of directing traffic and therefore remain invisible to potential buyers. MasterVendorList.com’s internet marketing team is well versed in ‘the state of the art’ internet marketing tools and techniques for traffic generation and are constantly researching latest trends. By pooling our resources vendors who subscribe benefit from a massive internet marketing campaign, impractical to an individual company. A minimal Google Adwords campaign of $10 a day ($3650) would cost 46% more than a standard annual subscription to MasterVendorList.com.

4 . How does MasterVendorList.com differ from other Business Directories?

MasterVendorList.com is not a Business Directory; it is a vendor sourcing tool. Business Directories just provide a list of company names; they do not actually provide any benefits to the buyer. MasterVendorList.com has been reverse engineered and addresses the problem from a buyer’s perspective by providing a functional tool, to assist with sourcing vendors when they are ready to buy. This creates a psychology of buyers who want to buy, as opposed to sellers looking to sell; something which any credible vendor wants to achieve. Also, Business Directories do not actively market the companies that they list and usually only provide their lists nationally. MasterVendorList.com uses the latest ‘state of the art’ Internet marketing tools and techniques, providing massive global exposure. Lastly Business Directories do not give vendors ownership of their company information whereas MasterVendorList.com provides a user profile, allowing vendors to make changes to their contact details or scope of supply 24/7. This ensures buyers always have up to the minute accurate information.

5 . How do I know that my Company is going to get a fair representation?

Jeremy Ball, the founder and CEO of MasterVendorList.com has a strong belief in fair ethics across the board; a philosophy held firmly by every member of the team. There is no bias to any one credible company over another. In default search settings, the vendor’s names appear in the order that they have subscribed for our service, with no relevance to company size. We do not make any income from advertising or prioritising (allowing vendors to pay to be top of the list). We ask only that vendors follow this ethos by being completely honest when completing the company profile and scope of supply. Any abuse will result in a company being removed from the list and black listed indefinitely.

6 . What makes a credible vendor? What stipulations do you have on company’s that appear in MasterVendorList.

MasterVendorList.com request that all vendors who apply to be listed have previously worked on a major project within the Oil & Gas Industry. They have preferably worked with the major operators or EPC contractors. MasterVendorList.com has a process which reviews all vendor applications to ensure that the submission is a true reflection of their company. Any companies found to be abusing this will be declined from subscribing.

7 . Where there is an overlap of interest, who should register - The Manufacturer or The Agent?

Both. MasterVendorList.com allows buyers to sort vendors by manufacturers, stockist or traders. If a buyer was looking to procure in large volumes, then they would probably want to go to a manufacturer directly, however, if they only had one or two items, then a manufacturer would not be interested in supplying for that project and the client would likely need the services of an agent (stockist or trader). Therefore it would be prudent for all three types of vendors to be listed, to cover all eventualities.

8 . My Company has a large number of sites in many Countries, however we have a centralised budget. Could MasterVendorList.com provide a price that reflects an ‘economy of scale’?

MasterVendorList.com has set pricing per profile, irrespective of how many countries and regional offices they have. The standard is that each location or division would pay a separate fee for each profile. If you would like to speak to us about your individual circumstances, please contact SalesEnquiries@MasterVendorList.com where we would be happy to discuss this with you further.

9 . Can I advertise my company on MasterVendorList.com?

No. MasterVendorList.com does not allow any on-site advertising, as this would give a preference to one company over another which is not in line with our company ethos.

10 . Will you be getting the major operators and EPC contractors to use MasterVendorList.com?

The intention is to get both to use MasterVendorList.com. Most companies already have their own in-house vendor listing systems, which are difficult to manage and usually out of date. We do not want MasterVendorList.com to be a replacement to these systems, but used as an add-on service. Although our discussions with these bodies have confirmed the real need for our service, we understand that vendor sourcing is not a regulated process. There is currently no governance that can guarantee a buyer will follow a process to use this, or any other tools. Therefore, our strategy is to utilise our vast experience of the latest Internet Marketing tools and techniques to ensure that MasterVendorList.com is always visible at the precise moment a buyer uses Internet search engines to locate requirements.

Client Questions

1 . When I am creating a short list, can I create a short list for more than one commodity?

You can create as many shortlists as required, either one per commodity or you can combine a number of commodities within one shortlist. You can then manipulate the information any way required, once it has been downloaded into excel.

2 . What if I am unsure what category my required product is under? Is there an overall search facility?

At present there is no overall search facility. This is because in the Oil & Gas Industry, buyers are usually commodity specific; each buyer only having one commodity they are responsible for. Therefore, when we designed the site originally, we didn’t see a need for it. However, as we look to further improve and develop the site, we are creating additional enhancements such as the provision of a generic search field. Our aim is to provide this within a few months of launching.
